Essay

The thesis is devoted to study of structural and functional peculiarities different ecological groups halophytes of Ukrainian Priazov'ya (P. lanceolata L. is a mesophyte adapted to the salinity; A. santonica L. is glicohalophyte; H. pedunculata L.is crinohalophyte; S. europaea L. is indicator of salt soils, evha-lophyte) with the aim to define the multivariation of the main adaptive process components and the plant sensitivity to salinization in ontogenesis. The histological analysis of halophytes' vegetative organs let to state that the salt stress excites the change of tissues correlation in them. Physiological processes were studies: photosynthesis, pigments composition, activity of catalase (the type of CO2 fixation in halophytes was specified), transpiration intensity, water-losses, concentration of cell sap, growth processes, protein and sulpholipid composition both in plants under natural conditions and under salt stress modulation in different periods of halophytes ontogenesis. The critical levels of salt concentration in soil are determined for them and it is shown that the negative effect of salinization is maximal in the middle of vegetation. The role of several structural and functional rebuildings is defined. Some of them are proposed as diag-nostical signs of plant salt-tolerance.
