Kryuchkova P. Authoritarian Discourse (on the Material of the English Language).

The thesis focuses on the analysis of authoritarian discourse in various spheres of communication including family, professional, educational communication. Main verbal and non-verbal components of authoritarian discourse are classified. Communicative features of authoritarian personalities, communicative strategies, idolects of authoritarian personalities are analyzed. The thesis proves that authoritarian discourse is observed only under a special addresser-addressee pattern in situations where the illocutionary aim of an addresser is to perform authoritarian pressure, to manipulate or to dominate in communication. In such communicative sutuations violation of communicative maxims, breach of cooperation and politeness principles are observed. The impact of an authoritarian interlocutor on his/her communication partner is analyzed.
