Demenchuk O. Colour-Naming Compound in English: Cognitive and Onomasiological Aspects

The dissertation focuses on cognitive and onomasiological peculiarities of English colour-naming compounds into determining the linkage of onomasiological structure of the compound, its meaning and mental construal grounding in epistemological nature of naming. The coinage of English colour-naming compounds is regarded as a result of attributive word-combination lexicalization against the background of lexical and semantic system of English colour namings. Peculiarities of the English colour-naming compounds' semantic structure are established. Types of epidigmatic connections of polysemantic colour-naming compounds are determined in accordance with psychonetic and socio-cultural components of colour concept. The motivational properties of English colour-naming compounds are ascertained. There has been considered an onomasiological agreement of English colour-naming compounds in text. Ethno-linguistic specificities of colour-naming compounds' designation are revealed
