Essay

The subject of study: is the process of carbon nanotube formation. The goal of the study: finding out the mechanism formation of carbon nanonubes and their modified variations inside alumina membranes, clarifying of structure of nanotube surface. Methods of investigation: electron microscоpy and electronography, AFM, derivatography, ESCA, IR and Raman spectroscopy, temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry, X-ray phase analysis. The conditions of modificated carbon nanotubes synthesis by chlorine, nitrogene and sulfur in the membrane are found out. It is determined the temperature intervals of the nanotubes synthesis from toluene, CH2Cl2 and acetonitrile. The morphologic of synthesized multiwall carbon nanotubes and their thermal properties are investigated. Oxygen functional groups are detected on the carbon nanotubes surfase. The influence of modificated atoms on IR and XPS spectra of nanotubes is determined. The mechanism of nanotubes formation in the aluminium oxide matrix by pyrolysis ofCH2Cl2 is discussed.
