Jaremtchuk N. Hemingway and Gonchar: interaction of fiction systems.

Object is the anti war novel of Hemingway "Fiesta", "A Farewell to Arms" and Gonchar's "Man and the arms", "The Cyclops". The aim is historical-typological investigation of the war-novels of Hemingway's and Gonchar's. Methods - comparative-typological, biographic, historical-genetic and historical-functional. In the dissertation for the first time in Ukrainian and American studies of literature is made a comparative-typological investigation of interrelation of fiction systems of the war-novels of Hemingway's and Gonchar's in the course of traditions and innovation. Determined are historical, general-cultural, biographical factors and literary-philosophical factors and literary-philosophical traditions which have become a source of similarity and differences in the creative development of prose-writers. Studied were the anti war novel of Hemingway "Fiesta", "A Farewell to Arms" and Gonchar's "Man and the arms", "The Cyclops" which contain peculiar dialogues in the literary context; traced, werethe sources of forming the authors' peculiarities of the world outlook, which had revealed themselves in the fiction system of the novels; studied was a number of psychological, moral, ethical and other problems, touched in the works of both authors; the dominants of the individual fiction systems of both prosaists in their typological connections; the specifics of the major similar characteristics of the intellectuality of Hemingway's and Gonchar's prose; the topical-compositional parameters of their anti-war novels. For the first time have been worked out some principles and methodology of the comparison and studies of the authors' prose as a continual process of the fiction's evolution and their coming into being.
