The dissertation deals with the contrastive analysis of the semantic types of the indefinite doer in English and Ukrainian. The criteria of distinguishing the main indefinite doer types are provided as well as language means contributing to its identification. The basic types of the indefinite doer expressed by personal pronouns in contrasted languages are defined. The use of each personal pronoun as means of expressing different indefinite doer types is described. Common and distinctive features characterizing indefinite doer are provided.
