Object of study. Natural monopolies operation under market conditions. Research objective. Creation of a theoretical basis and development of methodical and practical organization and economics related recommendations for increasing the efficiency of natural monopolies operation by creating a competitive environment in the natural monopoly system. Research methods and equipment. Logical generalization, complex systematic approach, economical and mathematical analysis, analytical statistics analysis, financial analysis. Development of concept-based approaches as well as of organization and economics related suggestions for the creation of a competitive environment in the field of natural monopoly. Novelty of results. Peculiarities of the evolutionary development of certain stages of natural monopolies life cycle have been described for the first time, their quantitative and qualitative description has been given. The definition of characteristic features of natural monopolies has been improved. Substantial details have been added to concept-based approaches to the creation of a competitive, environment in natural monopoly system and to the use of its integrated advantages. The expedience of the creation of integrated transportation companies for more efficient utilization of the railway and other transportation branches competitive advantages has been grounded for the first time. Organization and economics related recommendations for the development of a flexible railway management system and for increasing its efficiency by integrating efforts of the transportation market competitors have been improved. The methodical basis for differentiated tariff determination of an integrated transportation company has been further developed (the tariff takes into account delivery speeding-up).
