The Dissertation is devoted to the complex research of the British foreign policy in relation to the Bosphorus and Dardanelles. History of the Black Sea straits question, different attempts of its settlement, place of this problem in the British foreign policy is being examined. Why and under what conditions British policy in relation to the Straits question had been changed is also investigated in the dissertation. The researcher came to conclusion that Great Britain's forced refusal from the traditional policy in the question of the Straits, did not mean refusal from the policy of defending British interests in the region.
