Tarasenko M. Ancient Egyptian Myths of the Universe (on the materials of the 17th Chapter of the Book of the Dead)

The thesis is devoted to the research of the complex of Ancient Egyptian Myths and their subjects concerning the problem of the Universe structure on the basis of the contents of the text and illustrations of the 17th Chapter of the Book of the Dead (New Kingdom) with the attraction of а complex of the additional (written and representational) sources, and also of rather - materials of а comparative religion studies. As а result of the research the important subjects of the Chapter connected with the Cosmogony - mythological history of the formation of the Universe, are reconstructed and interpreted. In the result, in the Chapter the plots of myths about Creation and Fall, as а finishing phase of Cosmogony, are allocated; the cosmographical display of temporal categories is established. The time, place and conditions of the creation of the 17th Chapter of the Book of the Dead are considered. On the basis of the received results the purpose of this Spell is established, – а guidebook on the Underworld(Duat).
