Essay

The thesis contains the results of the studies of phase equilibria in the existence range of the ternary compounds K2TeBr6(I6), Rb2TeBr6(I6), Cs2TeBr6(I6), Tl2TeBr6(I6) and in the quasibinary systems formed by these ternary halides. The proper phase diagrams have been built. Nearly optimum technological regimes of crystal growth of the compounds K2(Rb2,Cs2,Tl2)TeBr6(I6) have been developed, and some physico-chemical properties of the compounds have been studied. Using X-ray powder diffraction technique, the crystal structures of the compounds Tl2TeBr6 and Tl2TeI6 have been determined, and the structure of Cs2TeI6 has been corrected. The types of interaction of the components in the systems based on the ternary Me2TeHal6 halides have been investigated and explained by the crystal chemistry approach.
