Essay

The goal of this work is development and investigation of a method of determination of qualitative characteristics of a metal by analyzing the fractal dimension of its microstructure. An object of investigation is discovered one-to-one correspondence between mechanical properties of the low-carbon steel and medium-carbon steel, and the phase's and grain's boundary fractal dimension. The thesis is devoted to development of a method of determination of qualitative characteristics of a metal by analyzing the fractal dimension of its composite parts of its microstructure. Such an approach allows to relate the microstructure and the mechanical properties without making an mechanical tests. Realization of the method leads to the saving means and time needed to carry out mechanical tests. A data base for calculating mechanical properties of the steel 3.
