Essay

When rate of longwall face advance exceeds 100 m per day, critical dimension varies between 0.17 and 0.31 of mining depth. Microseismic emission increases 2-4 times and gas emission rises up to 18-50% after destruction of the pillar when its dimension becomes critical. First act of pillar destruction has been followed by 2-4 consequent acts however additional gas emission was registered during 1-2 consequent acts. It means that excessive gas manages to escape from the pillar during first 2-3 acts of destruction.
