Prosodic peculiarities of territorial types of British English pronunciation/ The aim is to study the variety of regionally differentiated types of intonation characteristics of six British types of pronunciation taking into consideration the regional lingual situation; to single out a set of diagnostic intonation indications for each of the territorial types. The methods: descriptive, statistic, theoretical analysis, scientific observation, auditory, instrumental, comparative analyses. For the first time territorial, social and demographic intonation variations were examined systematically. Objective acoustic characteristics on the basis of comprehensive methods of studying prosody variation are obtained. The results can be used in teaching sociolinguistics, dialectology, theoretical and practical phonetics. The sphere of usage - university, college.
