Lysetska N. Phraseological Innovations in Modern German: Cognitive and Functional Aspects

The study deals with an investigation of the formation and development of phraseological innovations in modern German from 1989 up to the present time. It is based on a synthesis of cognitivism and functionalism. A complex analysis of lexical units is suggested in the paper. As a result of the cognitive analysis of phraseological innovations, the main concepts are outlined. The general cognitive model of phraseological innovations is established. The ideographic parameter outlines the main spheres of phraseological innovation and their dominant concepts are determined. Modern German mass media serve as a basis for characterizing the semantics of newly formed words. In the result of the analysis text forming potentions of the phraseological innovations and text forming functions were distinguished.
