Essay

In the research the author analyses the diachronic and synchronic transformations of the opposition "hero-Phillisine" and generalises the methodological approaches to the investigation of the opposition in the theoretical thought. The author points out that the heroic image is not constant in its basic dimensions and changes according to historical, social, political, ideological factors, thus manifesting its open nature. These factors determine the contemporary reception of the hero figure in literature as well.
