3. The thesis focuses on the analysis of formation and functioning of secondary nomination units with "colour term" in Modern German. The study suggests a comprehensive analysis of the ways and mechanisms that characterize the formation of secondary nomination units with "colour term". The basis of colour terms transformation is also ascertained. Structural and semantic classification as well as cultural background of these units are presented in the paper. The analysis has established nominative, syntactic and pragmatic functions of secondary nomination units with "colour term" used in utterances and texts of modern German. Various occasional lexical units with "colour term" are examinated from their nominative perspective. Syntactic functions of secondary nomination units under study are analysed. The influence of syntactic function and position of polysemantic secondary nomination with "colour term" within an utterance on their meaning actualisation is defined. Pragmatic functions of the units under analysis are established, their correlations are determined.
