Essay

It has been shown that spontaneous metastasizing carcinoma 3LL and melanoma B16 have significant differences from nonmetastatic MCA sarcoma both in expression of endogenous lectins and in reactivity of cell aggregation upon effect by exogenous carbohydrate. Influence on carcinoma 3LL and melanoma B16 aggregation by different carbohydrates was unilateral. All used carbohydrates inhibited aggregation of metastatic cells. On the contrary, influence on MCA sarcoma aggregation by carbohydrates varied from stimulation to the absence of any effect. All used carbohydrates inhibited migration of metastatic cells. Severity of the inhibition of carcinoma 3LL and melanoma B16 migration by the majority of carbohydrates was unalterable upon coculturing with spleenocytes from tumor-bearing mice
