Essay

The thesis is devoted to a research on reproductive and fattening properties of pigs of the large White breed ( on the basis of sires of Estonian selection ) in pure bred breeding, and also to the perfection of techniques of evaluating breeding characteristics of pigs according to the these properties. Reproductive properties of sows were studied according to selection signs (live weight after farrowing, sow and piglets mass ratio at farrowing, vitality index) using the data of four farrowings Disperse signs of variability of reproductive properties of sows were specified: polycarpice and large fetus effects, latescence, piglet mass at weaning. I he research results have been applied on the pedigree farm "Priozernoe" of the Komsomolky district, Kherson region.
