Object of research: patients with mediastinal neoplasms, diagnostics and treatment of which we carried out by different schemes; task: to improve results of treatment of the most frequent mediastinal neoplasms by the optimisation of diagnostics and treatment tactics; methods of examinations: x-ray, CT-scan, MRI, ultrasound examination, transthoracic fine needle byopsies under the control of x-ray, CT, MRI, on the data of CT, parasternal mediastinotomy, diagnostical thoracotomy and sternotomy, statistical; theoretical and practical results: algorithm of diagnostics of mediastinal neoplasms was developed; adjuvant polychemotherapy (APOC scheme) after operation and radiotherapy in case of 3-rd stage malignant thymomas prolongs terms of survival without relapses and increases 3-year survival on 16,7 % (p < 0,05); in case of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas it was increasesed the survival without relapses on 11,0 %, average duration of remission on 7,5 months and 3-year survival on 8,4 % in comparing with patientswithout surgical treatment (p < 0,05); new in work: complex estimation of modern examinations was performed, efficiency of diagnostic algorithm was proved, high response on polychemotherapy in patient with 3-rd stage thymoma and adjuvant radiotherapy in patients with malignant teratoblastomа was also proved, first time it was researched the role of cytoreduction in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphomas on terms of survival; grade of practical apply: applied in treatment practice of Poltava, Sumy and Kharkov regional oncologic centers; area - medical (oncology). . On the basis of the analysis of informational value of standard x-ray, CT, MRI, invasive methods of morphologi-cal diagnostics (transthoracic punctures under the control of x-ray, CT, ultrasound examination, on data of CT, paraster-nal mediastinotomy, diagnostic sternotomy and thoracotomy) the diagnostic algorithm of mediastinal tumours was devel-oped.
