Essay

The object of study - the international relations on the Balkan peninsula in Hellenistic epoch. The purpose of study on the basis of the complex analysis of various sources and historical literature to determine specificity of participation and role of barbarians' of Balkan in the international relations of Hellenistic epoch . The methods used in the research are: system-structural, historical-genetic, comparative-historical, diahronical, historical-typological. In the dissertation for the first time a complex exploration of participation of barbarian peoples of Balkan peninsula in international relations in the end of IV - the first half of II centuries B.C. has been accomplished. On the basis of processing of large-scale source base and historiographic achievements the author has singled out the factors, which caused an appearance of Illyrian, Thracian and Celtic peoples as independent and possessing equal rights subjects at international arena during Hellenistic epoch. War was the predominant formof their contacts with ancient states. The evolution of barbarians' role at international arena is traced. The practical value of the dissertation consists in an opportunity of use of its materials for preparation of special and general(common) works on a history of the antique world and, in particular, Hellenistic epoch.
