Philippenko R. Life, social activities, and scientific-historical heritage of Kharkov University Professor Y.K. Redin (1863-1908).

. The dissertation is the first in Ukrainian historiography complex investigation of social and scientific-historical heritage of Ukrainian and Russian historian, Professor of Kharkov University, Y.K. Redin. The paper presents the analysis of the problem study condition, wide range of studied sources which expose the scientist's life and activities in all aspects. The dissertation considers the sphere of scientific interests of the scientist, his work in Kharkov Historical-Philological Society. The author describes the scientist's contribution to the preparation and work of the 12th Archaeological Congress, focuses on important role played by Y.K. Redin as a head of Museum of Fine Arts and Antiquities. It is also stated that Y.K. Redin made a lot for national school of the history of art development. The historian, Y.K. Redin made a careful study of Early Christian, Byzantine, and Old Russian art Christian Art monuments of Slobodska Ukrainian. He was among the first who started the scientific researchof Ukrainian icon-painting. The dissertation highlights social activities of Y.K. Redin, his work in Kharkov Society of People's Literacy Dissemination.
