Essay

In dissertation we have performed an epidemiological analysis of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD) at the territory of the Carpathian region. Object: diseases induced by environmental iodine deficiency. The work is aimed on epidemiological analyses of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD) at the territory of the Carpathian region, on introducing the new methods for assessing IDD, on developing prophylactic and medical measures for IDD liquidation. Methods and apparatus: clinical, immunoenzymic, statistic; apparatus USD "AU BIOMEDIKA", immunoenzyme analyzer, spectrophotometr. Theoretical and practical results: a new method assessing IDD was worked and introduced into practice. It has been shown that determination of the thyroid volume by ultrasonography and urine iodine concentration is the effective criteria for assessing stage of IDD severity on population level. Data base that is a basis for comparison with the results of following monitoring of the ioduria level and the state of goiter endemy in the process of iodine deficiency correction was formed. Ministry of public health and other medical institutions were received the data of an information concerning the modern state of IDD and a new method for treatment endemic goiter at the territory of the Carpathian region. The new: such investigation of IDD was firstly performed using modern methods for diagnosing diseases induced by iodine deficiency in some regions of the Ukrainian Carpathians. It has been shown that tabletic preparations of potassium iodide have therapeutic activity similar to L-thyroxin one in endemic goiter. It has also demonstrated that the normalization of intestine microbiocenosis helps to increase an iodine absorption and its urine excretion. The level of approach: Results can be used for IDD prophylaxis in different Carpathian regions of the Ukraine and for training the specialists-endocrinologists. Field of application: endocrinology.
