Essay

The dissertation work is devoted to the study of the mechanisms of transformation and radiative relaxation of high-energy electronic excitations in complex iodide crys-tals. The peculiarities of relaxation processes of high-energy excitations in the pure A2BI4 are revealed. The na-ture of the fast emission in the A2BI4 single crystals was determined. This emission was interpreted as hole inter-band luminescence (HIBL). The model of HIBL was pro-posed. The luminescence of self-trapped excitons (STE) was studied in the A2BI4 single crystals. The luminescence of mercury-like impurities was studied in the K2ZnI4 crys-tals. Luminescence of STE and impurity cerium centers was studied in the K2LaI5 and Cs3LaI6 single crystals. It was shown that the energy transfer of excitation energy from the crystalline matrix to the impurity centres exists in this crystals. The results are used in training process and for the searching and elaboration of new fast scintillators.
