Essay

The thesis is dedicated to historical-philosophic analysis of philosophic views of M. V. Gogol in the framework of Ukrainian romanticism. The research specifies cultural and historical prerequisites for appearance and development of philosophic views of M. V. Gogol in Ukrainian romantic tradition; special attention is given to determination of his place and importance in the system of Ukrainian and world culture. Significant part of the thesis is featured to religious ethic concept of Mykola V. Gogol, which discloses main stipulations on the problems of spirituality, soul, human being, art and his attitude towards the Christianity, where the aspect of links between belief and the church is of special importance. It is determined that Gogol's heritage should be considered first of all for deeper insight into both Ukrainian romantic idea and the culture of Ukraine in general.
