Essay

The problem of archetypal connections and correlations between different kinds of art namely between literature and architectural phenomena is investigated in the present dissertation. The temple phenomenon interpreted as archetypal imitation of a cosmological act with its basic structural elements: the World Mountain, the World Tree and the Stairs (the Ladder), serves as the basis for analytical comparisons and theoretical generalizations. The characteristics of the temple archestructure are considered as archetypal premises of philogical creative work. Creative and receptive aspects of temple poetics are illustrated by W.Golding's novel “The Spire” and J.Mishima's novel “The Golden Pavillion”, the image of a temple being central and meaningful in these works.
