Shkil S. Influence of ideas of Protestantism upon ideology formation of Feofan Prokopovych.

The stages of formation of confession determination by Feofan Prokopovych are in full conformity with the three periods of his life and creative activity offered by the author, i.e. study, Kyiv and St. Petersburg ones. His reformatory attitude to the orthodox tradition was stipulated first and foremost by a decisive opposition of the procatholic tendency in theological idea formation in Russia. In the thesis there has been analysed an extension program in theology, literary and polemic works by Feofan Prokopovych. There has been shown that “Ecclesiastic Regulation” establishment was caused by the necessity to legally consolidate and sanction his views, find his position in respect to the problem of church and state relationship, and by his striving for restricting a permanent total influence of the conservative party, gaining patriarchy abolition, by way of demonstrating incapability of the idea of individual ecclesiastic power.
