Kanishchev A. Non-psychotic mental disorders in patients with viral hepatitis (clinical course, diagnosis and principles of psychotherapy)

The study is based on the complex (clinical and pathopsychological) examination of 159 patients with hepatitis A, B, C and B +С, which were hospitalized in Kharkiv Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital. Qualitative and quantitative features of structure and course of non-psychotic mental changes in patients with hepatitis were revealed. These changes were observed as features of asthenic symtomocomplex, mood disorders and disorders in the sphere of disease perception. Estimated that syndromal structure of these changes was incomplete and remained at preclinical level. However, these disorders had significant influence on the patients' attitude toward treatment and illness. Also it was shown that asthenic disorders play the leading role in the recovery period of viral hepatitis and diminish convalescents' subjective estimation of their health. Based on clinical and psychological features, the psychotherapeutic tactics for these mental changes were designed and applied.
