Essay

The thesis is dedicated to study the bacteria of Pseudomonas genus by methods of phenotypic, genotypic and chemotaxonomic analysis. The polyphasic taxonomic analysis of isolated Pseudomonas strains and some strains with uncertain taxonomic status from the collection has been carried out. 105 strains of bacteria of Pseudomonas genus have been isolated from rhizospere, soils of Southern Ukraine and samples collected on Antarctic station "Academic Vernadsky". By means of a computer program, adapted for phenotypic identification of pseudomonads, these strains have been identified as P. fluorescens, P. putida,P. aureo-faciens, P. alcaliphila, P. fragi and P. veronii. The data of hyper variable 16S rRNA region sequence confirmed that two Antarctic strains belonged to P. fragi and P. veronii. It has been established some phylogeneticaly related species for 6 representative strains with uncertain taxonomic status. These results gave possibility to identify one group as Pseudomonas frederiksbergensis and indicated, that another group - "Pseudomonas rathonis" was a new species
