Essay

The dissertation deals with the results of a research of the species - specific composition and the population level of the microflora of the content of the large intestinal cavity in 152 patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). It has been proved that the Linnex probiotic is an effective way of treating large intestinal dysbacteriosis in DM patients. The general functional state of the vegetative nervous system (VNS) has been studied. In particular, there occurs a predominance of the tonus of the sympathetic nervous system with MD type I of medium severity and duration of the clinical course up to five years. An elevated tonus of the parasympathetic part of the VNS has been found in DM patients with severe forms of type I, medium sever and severe forms of type II and in all the patients under study with the duration of the disease of 6 and more years. The use of Linnex in the treatment of patients with DM for the purpose of normalizing intestinal microbiocenosis disturbances exerts a positive effect on the manifestations of the VNS dysfunction, bringing about a restoration of balance of its sympathetic and parasympathetic portions in a greater part of patients.
