Essay

It has been established, that the depth of fatty acids composition changes of CSF and blood lipids depends on etiology (bacterial or viral) and severity of meningitis. Based on content of C15:0 and C17:0 fatty acids of CSF we can differentiate bacterial and viral meningitis. The content of arachidonic acid can be used as additional criterion of brain edema in children with meningitis. Were registered that using of antioxidants and mildronat normalize lipids metabolism disorders and hasten recovery in children with severe forms of bacterial meningitis.
