Essay

The object is adsorption of biomolecules on highly disperse silica surface from liquid phase; the aim is to determine regularities of adsorptional interactions of biomolecules with highly disperse silica in liquid medium; the methods are quantum-chemical and adsorptional and atomic force microscopy. The influence of the structure of an adsorbate, an adsorbent's surface, and solvent properties on the adsorption interactions of amino acids, polyphenols, polypeptides and proteins with silica surface in liquid media has been determined. Conformational changes of protein molecules were adsorbed on silica surface have been studied. The models for the interaction of biomolecules with highly disperse silica surface that take the solvation effects in the account have been developed.
