Essay

There were studied sex and age features for glucose homeostasis, beta-cell function and oxidative status in Wistar rats offspring of mothers with stress during early pregnancy against the background of gestational insulin deficiency. There was investigated the offspring adaptability to two stress factors. It was revealed, that preventive (2nd - 15th day of pregnancy) and therapeutic (21st - 35th day of life, at the prepuberty) supplementation with antioxidative vitamins E and C was effective against the carbohydrate metabolism disturbances development in offspring. Our findings are consistent with accumulating evidence on pathophysiological mechanisms responsible for metabolic disturbances development in offspring of gestational diabetic mothers. Social-emotional stress and generation of reactive oxygen species seem to occur as pathogenical factors of glucose intolerance development in ones. The field of application - health protection.
