Essay

The thesis provides a detailed study of Chernihiv governor-ruled region's descriptions of the last quarter of the XVIIth century. The research reveals the reasons of the unique descriptive statistic complex's emergence, techniques of its preparation and personalities of its compilers; the work also contains archaeographical characteristics of the descriptions' copies found in archives both in Ukraine and Russia. Realising the said documents' informational potential and clarifying their representativeness degree allows defining the descriptions' further use as a historic source.
