Object of investigation - the mixtures of initial components Li2CO3-Gd2O3-B2O3 (H3BO3) and LaB3O6 (LaBO) and Li6Gd(BO3)3 (LGBO) single crystals, pure and doped by cerium. Aim of investigation: the radiation-induced defect nature determination in LaBO and LGBO single crystals, the investigation of cerium activation influence on possibility of defect creation, optic and scintillation characteristics of the crystals. Methods of investigation: atom emission analisys, X-ray structure analisys, optic spectroscopy, X-ray and photo luminescence, thermostimulated luminescence. Theoretical and practical results, novelty: the radiation-induced defects characterizing the TSL in LaBO (hole centers) and LGBO (electron centers) single crystals, pure and doped by cerium are determined. The types of luminescence kinetics and energy positions of capture levels in 300-550K temperature range. The structure of activator centers is simulated taking into account activator valance and radiation action. The quenching of TSL and X-ray luminescence of LaBO:Се crystals is due to shielding of radiation-induced defect - cation vacancy of La by recharging activator. The TSL LGBO:Се crystals is due to of F+- center decay in activator environment. Field of application: high energy physics, nuclear physics and scintillation technique.
