The dissertation highlights the functioning of such biblical units as lexical and phraseological as well as quotations of biblical origin acquiring allusive meaning in the texts of postwar American novels. The biblical allusion in the postwar American novel has revealed its new informative, stylistic and pragmatic characteristics assisting to convey such biblical motifs as treachery, fratricide, patrimonial revenge which provides evidence of being highly potent for the prose.
