Essay

In dissertation we have studied iodine deficiency disease (IDD) in pregnant women and their newborns. Object: iodine deficiency diseases in pregnant women and their newborns. The aim of work is to characterize the iodine deficiency effect on health status of pregnant women, to establish the clinical importance of iodine deficiency consequences during pregnancy for mother and child. Methods and apparatus: clinical, laboratory, immunoenzyme, statistic; US apparatus "AU BIOMEDIKA", immunoenzyme counter Stat Fax 303 Plus. Theoretical and practical results: it has been shown that iodine deficiency during pregnancy is a high risk factor for development of complicated pregnancy, delivery, fetal disorders, newborn and child health in postnatal period. The screening effectiveness in early diagnosis of congenital hypothyroidism was shown. The determination of hormonal status, thyroid volume and ioduria level as a criterion for assessing IDD severity was demonstrated at population level. The new: TTH level was determined in all newborns of the Verkhovyna region. The frequency of neonatal transitory hypothyroidism (NTH) was established. NTH effect on physical, and neuronal psychical development in children was at 1st and 2nd years of life studied. The level of approach: the results can be used in IDD prophylaxis and for training specialists such as endocrinologists, pediatrists. Field of application: endocrinology, pediatry.
