Korzh I. Military Service in Ukraine: Entering, Advancement and Termination.

This dissertation delves into the joining of citizens in military service, their advancement in it and its termination; offers a general characteristic of military service and relevant legislation; considers the concept and legal content of military service, as well as its main purpose; indicates its peculiarities as a special kind of State service and its distinctions from other types of State service. Deals with relations in military service and offers their classification, chows the legal status of the serviceman and his rights, obligation and restrictions in right, as well as State guarantees and privileges and problems of their realization. Analyses the bases of origin; changes in and ending of social relations, which arise between the State and its citizens in connection with their joining in military service, their advancement in it and its termination. Examines the state of normative acts regulating the above matters. Points out drawbacks in the legal regulation of the above-mentioned and conditions of citizens’ entering, advancement and termination of military service, offers and substantiates corresponding ways and mechanisns of elimination of such drawbacks. Contains conclusions as to: the necessity of improvement of the relations in military service through their regulation strictly by the law; the evident need for military reform; the expediency to retain the cadre service of the officers’ corps; providing the military units with proper personnel and materiel.
