Essay

Role of nitric oxide in glaucoma pathogenesis had been determined as a result of scientific literature analysis and proper research. Peculiarities of changing of nitric oxide stable metabolite levels in tears and blood plasma in healthy people of different age and sex had been studied. It gave the opportunity for the first time to determine normative indices of nitric oxide in these media of healthy people of different age groups. Principles of NO metabolism change in different POAG stages in patients of different sex had been discovered. Correlation relation between NO stable metabolite levels in tears and aqueous humor in POAG patients had been determined. It gave the opportunity to work out a new non-invasive method of glaucoma development forecasting by oxide potential of an eye. Different ways of medicamental treatment influence on levels of NO biochemical indices and glaucoma stabilization had been studied. It had been discovered hypotensive effect of ascorbic acid both in eye drops and in pillsand also noticeable positive influence of another antioxidant - Cvercetin on ophthalmopressure. Positive influence of the proposed way treatment both on NO stable metabolite levels in tears, blood plasma and on the glaucoma process dynamics had been marked. It offers the challenge to reduce development of glaucomatous neuropathy.
