The subjeck of the thesis is social-economic and political development of Afghanistan after the Second World War and up to the April coup d'etat of 1978. The aim of the research is to give complex analysis of the main directions of internal and foreign policy of Afghanistan, to regard social-economic development of the country in the period after the Second World War and up to the April events of 1978. The methods used in the work are the following: comparative - historical, chronological, statistical and analytical. Complex anakysis of the social-economic development of Afghanistan is given and the main directions of internal and foreign policy are defined. For the first time the peculiarities of the agrarian changes are investigated on the basis of a great number of facts and the conseguences of the "controlled economy" and liguidation of ANB group are shown. The reasons of the April coup d'etat of 1978 and the role of Peoples' Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPOA) in it are studied. Comparative analysis of the material and financial aid of the USA and tht USSK is made. Spheres the results of the research may be used in academic and higher learning establishments, diplomatic establishments, manuals, monographs.
