The dissertation presents an integrated approach to the analysis of English trade names. The thesis focuses on the study of structural, semantic and pragmatic peculiarities of trade names on the Internet web-sites. Trade names are regarded as a group of onomastic units in lexico-semantic system of English. In the research the notion of "trade name" is defined, the main linguistic and extralinguistic functions of trade names are highlighted, the trade names' ability to become common nouns is investigated. Main structural types, word-forming patterns, ways of creation and basic sources of English trade names origin are determined. The specificity of English trade names' pragmatic aspect is revealed through advertising slogans, which carry additional information about trade names and induce the recipient to action. The application of current communicative and functional paradigm to the study of English trade names on the Internet web-sites allowed to assert that trade names successful functioning and their influence on the recipient depend on their structural, semantic and pragmatic features.
