Essay

The thesis deals with the complex research of formation of Ukrainian medieval numismatics and the main tendency of historiography of Ukrainian numismatics in the period of medieval ages. Special analysis is given to conceptual and methodological basis of Ukrainian numismatics in XIX-XX centuries as well as the full coverage of the process of scientific attribution and the classification of medieval coins native emission. The range of money turnover in Ukraine in medieval period, formed in the historiography at the end of XIX-XX centuries is considered and the main directions and tendencies in analysis of the theme in sufficiently shown.
