The character of the interaction of components in the ternary systems {La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm}-Ga-Si і Sm-Ga-{Ge, Sn} was investigated for the first time, and isothermal sections of their phase diagrams at 870 K were constructed over the whole concentration range by means of X-ray phase and X-ray structural analyses. The ranges of the solid solutions based on 27 binaries and the homogeneity ranges of 10 ternary compounds were determined using the plots of the lattice parameters vs compositions. The existance of one ternary gallide was confirmed and 18 new ternaries were sythesized in the investigated systems. The crystal structures were determined for 16 ternary compounds. They crystallize in the 9 structure types, two of them are new. The types of derivations of the structures of the new ternary gallides from known structure types were established. The increasing of the absolute values of thermo-e.m.f. for 14 samples at the temperature increasing indicates the metallic type of the conductivity. The predominant influence of the electronic structure of the atoms of rare earth metals on magnetic behaviour was established as a result of the investigation of the temperature dependencies of the specific magnetic susceptibility of 5 ternary compounds.
