Object - diffusion-controlled reactions of solid-state sythesis of complex oxides. The purpose is to clarify the structure and development of the reaction zone in the prosesses of solid-state synthesis of barium-yttrium cuprates. By means of DTA, X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical and scanning electron microscopy, local electron-probe analysis and chemical analysis the structure of reaction zone, phase and local composition of products, as well as the component distribution in reaction zones have been investigated in nine sections of the Y-Ba-Cu-O system. An unexpected effect - spacial separation of reaction products in the zone - has been found to explain the observed significant retardation of the synthesis kinetics. The method of accelerated synthesis of barium-yttrium cuprates has been developed and patented.
