Essay

The basics of manufacturing of uniform thickness mono- and multilayer coatings with improved characteristics have been developed. The improvement is achieved by preliminary laser treatment of the material, annealing of the coating and ionic processing of the transition layer, as well as due to the optimized choice of layer sequence in the multilayer coating for the dynamic and static temperature mode. The systematic approach has enabled a more realistic prediction and an implementation of the wear capability and life-time improvements of the cutting tools, as well as a reduction of friction and an achievement of high microhardness. The results have been introduced at the SE "Malyshev Plant", machine-building and mechanical tool production.
