Smirnov I. Effectiveness of medical and social rehabilitation in specialized boarding school for children with diabetes mellitus

Dissertation is dedicated to studying effectiveness of medical and social rehabilitation in specialized boarding school for children with diabetes mellitus. Object: medical and social rehabilitation of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). The aim: to evaluate the medical and social rehabilitation in specialized boarding school for children with DM (School),the influence on the course of disease, complications' risk and psychological and social adaptation. Methods and apparatus: clinical, biochemical, and instrumental; photocalorimeter "Solar", imunoferments analiser "Ц-01С". Theoretical and practical results: the effectiveness of medical and social rehabilitation of patients with DM in School is shown; educational and psychological intervention results in patients' psychological and social adaptation level rise. The novelty: it is evident that patients' residence in School lead to increase in indices of their metabolic control and sexual and physiological development, their risk of acute and chroniccomplications are lower and the level of social adaptation is higher. The level of approach: the results could be used to establish the specialized boarding schools for children with DM network. Field of application: endocrinology, pediatrics.
