Tatarintseva K. Expert examination of art stone carvings

The dissertation is devoted to elaboration and substantiation of methodics of expert examination of art stone carvings. The work bases necessity of elaboration of methodics for individual expert examination of art gemstone carvings with consideration of their social and aesthetic properties. It improves classification of carvings by their functional destination for the aims of expert examination, investigates customary properties of art gemstone carvings and proposes new expert criteria, elaborates measurement of surface roughness of art gemstone carvings. An algorithm of expert examination of art gemstone carvings on the basis of the author's (artist's) and commodity research approaches is presented. Practical expert and price examination of art stone carvings with accounting of expert criteria and prime cost is conducted. With the help of the elaborated methodics an expert examination of objects of National Preserve "Sophiya Kyivska" is made. State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine implemented "Rules of determination of appraisal cost for artefacts of Museum Fund of Ukraine with precious metals and precious stones and Historical Fund of precious metals and precious stones of Ukraine" based on the principles presented in the dissertation.
