Batovskaya H. Dramaturgy of the Choral Scenes in Operas by V.Gubarenko (after in example of "Loss of the Squadron", "Remember me", "Viy", "Remember, My Brethren")

Under consideration is the problem of functioning of an important component of an opera performance, i.e. – of the choir in the context of its dramaturgical function in the opera works by V.Gubarenko, in particular, in a heroic-romantic music drama “Loss of the Squadron”, “Remember Me”, in the opera-ballet “Viy” and in the opera-oratorio “Remember, My Brethren”.A complex musicological analysis is made from the point of view of the specific use of the choir as a dramaturgical unit in the operas by V.Gubarenko. The author gives description defines the contents and presents the list of the main choir scenes. It is offered to use a new, a more extensive classification of the choir scenes, which has six fundamental and ten supplementary functions. Implementation of the given classification info practical use makes it possible to formulate the conceptual choir functions in the genre system of V.Gubarenko’s operas and to define the genre-intonational model influence on the character of the choir functions us-age.
