Essay

The dissertation is devoted for improvement of diagnosis and treatment of GERD. By the comparative analysis of pH-study data in GERD-patients and healthy volunteers, the normal boundary values were defined. The dependency of disease severity from esophageal acid exposure and number of reflux episodes is established. pH-monitoring indices are not dependent from patient’s age, sex, Helicobacter pylori-status and disease duration. The sensitivity and specificity of this test are on level 88,9% and 95% respectively. The test allows to evaluate the treatment efficacy objectively. Advantages of the Bravo wireless pH recording system relate to its well tolerability and high sensitivity.
