Essay

Paper is devoted to synthesis of new unsymmetrical benzoins [alpha]-series with the hydroxyalkylation of electron rich benzenes and heterocycles (pyrrole, indole, furan) with arylglyoxals and [beta]-series with the isomerization of [alpha]-benzoins in basic media and to studying of reaction ability of isomeric benzoins. Opportunity of functionalization of unsymmetrical benzoins with defending and orientating N,N-dimethylhydrazonomethyl group are shown. That has allowed to obtain benzoins with nitrile, aldehydic groups in the heterocyclic rest and their derivative.
