Essay

The object is process of propagation and radiation of impulse electromagnetic signals; the purpose is investigation of physical peculiarities of impulse signal propagation and radiation, improvement of existed and development of new means for radiating ultrashort impulse signals with using new analysis techniques in the time domain; the methods are mode basis method, aperture decomposition method, spectrum extrapolation methods; the new approach are: for the first time the mode basis method has been generalized for the case of a waveguide with transverse and longitudinally inhomogeneous filling. An efficient algorithm has been developed for calculating dispersion curves of inhomogeneous waveguide and revealing their general properties. For the first time closed-form expressions in the time domain has been obtained for operators of diffraction on a permittivity step in a waveguide. A model of impulse radiation of a tapered slot antenna has been developed and analyzed using aperture decomposition methodin the time domain. A new tapered coplanar line based antenna design has been proposed and created for radiating impulse signals.
